We would like to thank everyone who came out to support the Relay for Life event and who helped make it so successful.
Steve from Jersey Security who helped protect our goods. Chyna the best woman ever to work a beach volleyball event in this region. The middle schoolers who came out from Va. Beach Middle, Great Neck Middle, and Lynnhaven Middle. The highers schoolers from Tallwood, Salem, Western Branch, Norfolk Christian, Kellam, and Landstown. And of course our college athletes from ODU, VCU, and JMU. A special thanks to the entire UVA women's volleyball staff and players who came down and graced us with your skills throughout the day on saturday. And of course the brave men and women of the Norfolk Fire Department.

The weather looked a little threatening but when you run good clean program it never rains on your parade. The wind may blow till you get sand burn but we had no rain.
Todays coed 2x's saw many new players and many out of towners come to enjoy the V2 experience. Today was easily some of the best coed play we have ever seen at one of our events on both the A and OPEN levels.
In fact, in both the A and Open division the last seeded team came all the back from the depths of disparity to run through the playoffs without and single loss and win the event!!! This has never happened before on the same day in two separate divisions.

It was our largest turnout EVER for a pre-Memorial Day weekend event and our largest women's turnout EVER!!! We had teams from 3 different countries and players from 5 different states!!! Knocking out Rhode Island 2 weeks ago and Oregon this week that makes a total of 38 states that we have had players from. Anyone have friends in Alaska that play beach volleyball?!?! This weekend also had talent o'plenty. We had multiple AVP players in the men's Open and some French Canadians in the women's open. Thank you to everyone who participated in this event and all the kind/encouraging words we received throughout the day.

Holy second day of total fullness batman!!! One of our largest
coed turnouts EVER!!!!! It was great to have such a turnout on a day
that was supposed to have overcast skies and late afternoon showers
but instead we had a 30min "no rain" delay and the rest of the day was
play filled. And we still managed to finish the entire event, in
full, by 5pm. Must be our good clean living.
Thank you also to all the southenders and everyone else who has
seen the writing on the wall and extended your best wishes and kinds
words.

Today was a day like no other. Torturous heat and humidity. Hundred mile an hour wind. You either got sand burn or ran through by a run away tent or umbrella. In fact on Monday morning the beach looked like a grave yard of broken and battered tents and umbrellas. But that did not deter any of us from playing the sport we love!!!!!!!!

What an incredible showing of community love and support this past weekend. In fact that love and support came not only from the local community but from the volleyball family up and down the east coast. This weekend of coming together for the community and making the statement of "we will not be bullied and harassed anymore nor overcharged and under delivered" by other volleyball organizations was truly something to behold as almost every player played for FREE!!! It was cool to see all the people show up who ordered shirts online for this event who we have never met before. We even had a couple of "directors" from the south end come up and check us out. They did not perform any community service but we have no doubts that they took some notes.
The women's divisions were actually larger than the men's divisions for only the second time ever but the best and biggest shocker was that the women's divisions finished before the men's as well!!!! This is unprecedented. Great job ladies!!
The weather was smoking hot this weekend and the sand socks were out in full force. In fact, it was so hot that when some of ladies stood next to "hot" Joe Patterson they got a case of the vapors and passed out right there on the boardwalk!!! NOW THAT IS HOT!!!

Well for the fourth event in a row a board member from the south end slithered down to watch our event, brought rain and cloudy weather, and never even once offered to pay off any debt or work off any community service. Oh well, let's hope that they took some good notes.

Not since we traveled through Texas on the Hotter Than Hell Tour have we faced such heat. Record high temperatures for the state of Virginia on both Saturday and Sunday. Players were getting blisters on top of their blisters. All this heat and the Val Venis of volleyball "hot" Joe Patterson did not even show up to play this weekend. As hot as it was the temps did not shut down the local airport as players from Atlanta, Boston, Fort Waton Beach, Fla., Maryland, El Paso, and Cleveland all came in town to play. And the players found it was all worth it as every winner in every division received FREE pairs of Vincere Sand Socks on both Saturday and Sunday!!!!!

Another record breaking hot day for the state of Virginia. And some of these players played both days this weekend. But, the real story was actually in the Coed BB division as we had our largest BB division ever. In fact, BB was the largest division in the entire event and that is a first that this has happened at a V2 event as well!!!!!

Who suspected that the volleyball crowd was a bunch of wining little babies?!!?!? Everyone complained all week/weekend about the horrible, piss poor event hosted at the south end just a week earlier. The really good news is that most everybody is/was able to distinguish between the professional well run events of Volleyball Virginia and whatever the hell that was at the south end last week. The really good news is that the south end will get to experience the event of the year this coming weekend with ECSC and it is NOT hosted by that crap organization but by Volleyball Virginia.
The first paragraph may seem a little harsh and strong worded but this is how things were relayed to us here and Volleyball Virginia and when an organization, such as the south end, continues to behave in such a manner it makes the community and all of volleyball look bad, not just themselves. That is again why we are thankful to all the players this week for coming out to play and knowing that there certainly is a difference. In fact, many of the winners this week wanted to help formulate their own nicknames on this results page. We only posted the nicer nicknames and in some cases wish we could post the others.

King: Jim "I have too many horror stories to tell from last week. the guy running it was an idiot. people were cussing him and kicking balls. they had no idea how to run the event and switched the format yet again. some teams even sat between games for over 3 1/2 hours. we had to lay our own lines and the prizes sucked. we finished pool play after 6pm and finals did not even start until 9pm at night in total blackness. with v2 I typically get the same amount of play in, much better prizes, and am home and in bed by 9pm and I live 2 hours away" Buck (Richmond, Va.)

For the first time ever the East Coast Surfing Championships (ECSC) is held by Volleyball Virginia (V2). It was 27 courts of pure, raw, unadulterated volleyball madness. (But, in a good way.) The event on Saturday almost saw more teams than on both days combined last year. The official start time, according to John Wood of John Wood Reality who's time is very valuable, 9:12am. Sorry for the late start (of 12 minutes) but for whatever reason all the 8k runners kept coming up to the volleyball tent to ask running questions. Go figure.
Feature court as well as the entire volleyball area was circled by camera crews, photo journalist, and fans taking pictures. Checkout the V2 facebook page or logon to www.surfecsc.com to see some really good shots and video.
On display in Men's Open was a lot of pride and love of the game on the players part. This was no pay-out event for the Open levels (not V2's idea). It really showed a lot of class and love of the game for these players to play. We really have to thank all the out of town guys for coming to play as it certainly speaks volumes. Also, for the first time in over 9 years V2 welcomes back a man who has been a long time gone from the volleyball scene and even placed in Men's Open Larry "Lars" Viskochil.
