Thank you to everyone who came out this weekend and donated both their time and money for the Relay for Life and American Cancer Society.  Things could not have gone better.  It started with a new center court design that would have made the AVP pro events jealous.  (And I should know.) 

     And speaking of good looking we would be remiss if we did not mention the Norfolk FEMALE FIREFIGHTERS!!!!  Spending time with them goes like this:

     I never thought that it would happen to me but..............

 

     And for the ladies there was team THUNDER.  They ride in on motorcycles and do a little dance to get into the proper beach attire that would have made the chip-n-dales jealous. 

     Although Fire Station 10 claims that they were the best it was Fire Station 7 and Fire Station 2 who made it further.  (But just barely).   Thank you to all the Fire Stations who came out to play today.  We made alot of new friends today and the event was such a hit we look forward to hosting it again soon.  (Or atleast a FEMALE FIREFIGHTER tournament.)  

 

     It was a two game final between Kiss My Pass and Elder Oilers.  Kiss My Pass came into the match undefeated, more experienced, and well rested.  But when your team is sponsored it means one of two things:  1.  Either you drink alot with that establishment or    2.  Your team is really good.   Well we certainly know that it was not reason one.   This team was really good and pulled out the double victory all in time to go to work (But, not make it to work on time.  Sorry fellas.)  Both of these games were filled with thrills and you know that to be true when the crowd gathers on the boardwalk and those players who have been eliminated stick around to watch and cheer or applaud on almost every play.  Great 2 game finals everyone.

 

     We do have alot of behind the scene people to thank for this events success.   Most importantly Bill "survivor" Brady whose vision and determination have not only helped him survive cancer but put together a top notch event such as this.  THANK YOU BILL.  Also behind the scenes there was Aaron "gorilla suit" Kessel and one of the biggest, badest, most wonderful and helpful ladies ever to hit the beach Chyna.  Also want to give a shout out to Glen "it's just another reason to hate TVA" Canterbury.

WOW!!!!!! What an event this weekend.  This was the biggest turnout EVER for a Volleyball Virginia event (minus the Corona Pro Am)  Luckily we saw it coming and had more blocks of courts up and ready to go.  Not only that but we had not one BUT two feature courts as this year the women's open also gets their own feature court!!!!!!  Speaking of women's open.......we had our largest women's open turnout to date and for the first time ever the women's open out numbered the men's open.  Not only that but the women's BB outnumbered the men's BB.  Told you that the women dig us!!!!!!!  We had teams from 4 different states (including Hawaii!!) and 2 different countries!!!!! Somebody is doing things the right way and that somebody is Volleyball Virginia!!!!!!  We are so good that even the southend tried to steal one more thing from us that they said that they would never, ever use................OUR FORMAT!!!!!!!

    What crap weather we had at the start of Saturday.  If forced us to start the event an hour later.  We blame the weather on Brian "stormy weather" Webb from Richmond who upon his arrival it began to down pour but, we still managed to overcome both Brian and the weather and finish by 6pm with over 55 teams.  Most of these teams even had to drive right past Buckroe Beach in Hampton.  HA!!

     Teams from all over the country came back for a second day of play but this time the weather (and Brian "stormy weather" Webb) both cooperated.

     The entire summer leads up to this one final event of the summer.  The one event that shows who is the uncontested absolute best player on the beach.  Giving that one player the sole right to brag, boast, and gloat all that they want cause they have indeed proven themselves to be either the KING or QUEEN OF THE BEACH!!!!!!
